Actor Ranveer Singh has been banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over his abrupt exit from Farhan Akhtar’s 'Don 3'. The decision comes more than five months after filmmaker Akhtar formally approached the federation with a complaint regarding the actor's withdrawal from the project.
Following Singh’s exit, the producers have allegedly demanded Rs 45 crore in damages. The FWICE issued a strict non-cooperation directive against the 'Dhurandhar' actor, banning him and instructing the film industry not to work with him until the dispute is resolved.
According to the FWICE, sudden exits from projects by senior and established actors at crucial stages pose a serious threat to the stability and working ecology of the entertainment industry.
Responding to the controversy, Singh's spokesperson said the actor had consciously chosen to stay silent throughout the issue. "Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the 'Don' franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding 'Don 3', he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect," a statement read.
The actor further wished the best to the team of the 'Don' franchise, and maintained that he will not discuss the matter in the media.
