The last Amrit Snan of this year’s Maha Kumbh concluded on February 3 with an estimated around 2.5 crore people taking a dip in the Sangam in Prayagraj on the occasion of Basant Panchami. In the wake of a stampede on January 29, the Uttar Pradesh government had taken several measures, including raised barricades, wire fencing, early bathing plans for devotees, and deployment of additional central and state forces for better crowd management.
