Faridabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of the Al-Falah group, after officials raided more than 25 locations across Delhi and Faridabad linked to the group’s university, trust, and associated companies. The university has been flagged as the likely ground zero for the Delhi Red Fort terror attack.

The arrest, made under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), followed a daylong operation in which investigators recovered cash, documents and digital records allegedly tied to large-scale financial irregularities.

ED investigation revealed that Haryana-based Al Falah University generated proceeds of crime worth Rs 415 crore by fraudulently inducing students to join it based on false accreditation and recognition claims. They said the university, where Red Fort bomber Umar un-Nabi and several accused in the “white-collar” Faridabad terror module had worked, is under scrutiny for its finances as well as alleged misuse of its infrastructure.

In addition, more than 200 doctors and staff at Al Falah University are under the scanner of the investigative agencies, media reports said, citing sources. According to an NDTV report, at least 10 people, including three Kashmiris, who worked or studied at the Al-Falah University, are missing, and their mobile phones have been turned off.

The report further stated that Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed - linked to the Delhi Red Fort car bomb - is preparing a 'fidayeen', or suicide, squad to launch another attack against India and has demanded donations.
