Democrats champion cooperation not confrontation: Bhutoria on Trump’s address to Congress

Thursday, 06 Mar, 2025

New York: Ajay Bhutoria , Democratic Party Deputy National finance chair said President Trump’s address to Congress on March 4, 2025, spotlighted his aggressive tariff agenda and rocky foreign relations, which Democrats view as destabilizing. He boasted of slapping 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico and 20% on China, sparking trade war fears and price hikes—cars could jump $12,000, hitting American wallets hard. His clash with Ukraine’s President Zelensky, marked by a heated Oval Office shouting match last week and a subsequent aid freeze, underscores his erratic leadership, risking Kyiv’s defense against Russia.

“Democrats champion cooperation, not confrontation, to protect both U.S. and global stability,” he said.
