Gatka Federation USA conducts 4th US-National level Refresher Course

Selected coaches to become certified Gatka officials, referees, and judges 

Kansas: Gatka Federation USA, in collaboration with the Kansas Gatka Association, organized its 4th US National Gatka Coaching and Refresher course-2025 at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, Overland Park, Kansas, under the aegis of World Gatka Federation (WGF).

Dr. Deep Singh, General Secretary of World Gatka Federation & Gatka Federation USA, informed that they have organized several gatka training camps in various states, such as New York, Pennsylvania, in the US, with the help of the Gurdwara Committees, educational institutes, and other sports organizations. Gatka Federation USA is proactively working on its state chapters throughout the US. The Kansas Gatka Association got the opportunity to host the 4th US National Gatka Refresher course in September. 

S. Amarjeet Singh, Chairman, and Preeti Kaur, Convenor of Kansas Gatka Association, stated that the 4th National Gatka Refresher Course was a unique camp for Gatka coaches and referees.  The purpose of this camp was to bring all gatka players, coaches, referees, and judges to one platform and prepare them for upcoming Gatka seminars, tournaments, and National Gatka Championships. She added that the Kansas Gatka Association’s state team is ready to compete in the upcoming 4th National Gatka Championship, which is going to be held on October 4th in New York.  

S. Harbhajan Singh, North Carolina, and Gurvinder Kaur, Kansas, stated that this camp aimed to spread awareness about Sikh Martial Art and introduce the young generation to this rich cultural heritage of Gatka. The Refresher Camp organizing committee has ensured that every application must be reviewed and scrutinized before the selection of the participants to join the course. He also added that Gatka was not popular among female Gatka players, but now many female players are thrilled to learn Gatka and are excited to participate to learn the coaching skills. 

Deep Singh, Technical Director of the International Gatka Championship Organizing Committee, delivered the lecture and shared his technical skills during the practical session with referees and judges. He added further that a huge number of Gatka players have been participating in this refresher course, and Gatka not only helps the Officials to know about the heritage in detail but also helps them physically and emotionally.
