NMexus™ and IIT Kanpur sign landmark MOU to foster innovation in clean energy, AI, aerospace, and emerging technologies

Albuquerque, NM & Kanpur, India — June 5, 2025 — NMexus™, a New Mexico-based non-profit Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) dedicated to attracting foreign direct investment and creating high-quality jobs, is expanding the scope of their partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), one of India’s most prestigious research and premier academic institutions.

The strategic partnership will foster collaborative research, innovation, and technology commercialization across critical and emerging fields, including clean and sustainable energy, aerospace, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), quantum computing, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.

“This MoU represents a strategic step for IIT-Kanpur in expanding its global research impact,” said Manindra Agarwal, Director of IIT-Kanpur. “We look forward to building deep, meaningful collaborations with New Mexico’s universities, labs, and industries.”

Located in the Mesa del Sol innovation district, the NMexus™ Centre aims to support up to 40 companies annually. It projects that it will create approximately 1,500 jobs and contribute over $400 million to the New Mexico economy over the next five years. New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham officially unveiled the initiative at the SelectUSA Investment Summit in May 2025.
