President Donald Trump has continued to replace key figures from the Biden administration with his allies, the latest being Rohit Chopra, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's director. Chopra, who has served as an advocate for financial reforms, was dismissed shortly after his recent birthday.
Chopra who is an American businessman and was the third director of the CFPB, previously was a member of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Prior to that, he served as assistant director of the CFPB and as the agency's first Student Loan Ombudsman, an office created by the Dodd–Frank Act.
Born in 1982, he graduated from Harvard University in 2004, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts and served as president of the student body.
After graduating from Harvard, he attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Master of Business Administration in 2009.
Chopra was a recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to South Korea.
Before entering government, he worked at McKinsey & Company, a global management consultancy firm.
