San Jose, CA: A tragic accident on November 9, 2025, has left Arti Singh, a young girl residing in the Bay Area, in a coma and fighting for her life at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. She was returning from a professional networking event when a car hit her at the pedestrian crossing, just a few blocks away from her home. Arti has remained unresponsive since the crash, and doctors have performed major surgeries to her neck and stomach to support her breathing and feeding needs as she undergoes intensive care.
According to her father, Sumiran Singh, the collision was not a hit-and-run. However, the San Jose Police Department has not released the identity of the driver involved. The only information the family has received so far is that the driver is a man in his 50s and was uninsured at the time of the accident. Police have provided no further details regarding his condition, financial status, or potential charges.
With no relatives, friends, or support system in the Bay Area, Arti’s father has been left in an extremely vulnerable position. He has no access to Arti’s devices, documents, or personal belongings, making communication and logistics increasingly difficult as he navigates hospital meetings, legal processes, and daily survival.
Stepping in to help, the community organization Overseas Organization for Better Bihar (O2B2) has been providing continuous support to Mr. Singh. O2B2 team members have been accompanying Mr. Singh to various places as he also faces issues with language accent and following the processes. The group has launched a fundraising campaign to help him cover the cost of accommodation, transportation, food, and daily living as he remains by his daughter’s bedside.
“This is every parent’s nightmare," a representative from O2B2 shared. “Mr. Singh is alone here with no family support. Our community is doing everything possible to make sure he is not left to struggle in silence.” “We are looking for support from all the Bay Area Indian Community to help this helpless father, like lawyers, social service, advocacy, any help will be appreciated”.
The case has raised concerns about traffic safety, transparency in ongoing police investigations, and the challenges families face when navigating medical and legal systems far from home. Community members are urging authorities to provide clearer updates and ensure that the family receives the support and resources they need during this crisis.
Community leader Ajay Bhutoria has also stepped in to raise the issue with District Attorney’s office and assist in providing all support needed to Parents.
As Arti continues to remain in critical condition, supporters from across California and beyond have joined the call for prayers, donations, and advocacy on behalf of the Singh family.
