At least 12 people were killed, and nine were injured on June 9 when gunmen opened fire at an informal settlement in Cleveland, east of Johannesburg. Police said in a statement that they had launched a manhunt for more than 10 suspects following the attack at the Jumpers informal settlement, Reuters reported.

The motive for the attack is not known yet, and an investigation has been launched. Police officials quoted by Reuters said that the suspects arrived in a white Toyota Quantum, entered the settlement from two access points and opened fire at multiple locations before fleeing in the same vehicle.

According to Sky News, officers found several people with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. Eight men and three women were declared dead there, with another man later succumbing to his injuries in the hospital.

Riots erupt in Belfast after brutal stabbing attack

Multiple homes and a supermarket were set on fire in Belfast on the evening of June 9 as riots erupted across parts of the city following a brutal knife attack, according to The Independent.

Images and videos from the streets showed large groups congregating, thick smoke billowing from buildings, and flames engulfing at least one terraced house. Local residents told Sky News that one of the targeted businesses was a Middle Eastern supermarket.

The disorder broke out after a man in his 40s, identified as Stephen Ogilvie, was stabbed in a violent attack on Kinnaird Avenue in north Belfast around 10:30 pm on June 8. A Sudanese man has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a blade, and threats to kill after the vicious assault.
