Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi issued a sharp warning to the United States following American military strikes on Iranian targets, declaring that Tehran would not leave any attack unanswered and urging US forces to leave the region if they wanted to remain safe.
In a post on X, Araghchi accused Washington of escalating the confrontation despite what he described as setbacks on the battlefield and said Iran’s armed forces were prepared to retaliate.
“Despite its defeats on the battlefield, the US opted to test our determination," Araghchi wrote, asserting, “Our Powerful Armed Forces will leave no attack or threat unanswered." Araghchi also warned foreign military forces operating in the region that their presence carried significant risks. “Leave our region if you want to be safe," he said.
The statement came after the United States launched military strikes that US President Donald Trump said were retaliation for the downing of an Army Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran said that overnight US attacks on its territory hit two water storage tanks in Sirik, disrupting water access for residents across the coastal city. It condemned the strike as a violation of human rights.
Tehran said its retaliatory attacks on US military bases were carried out under Article 51 of the UN Charter, describing them as a legitimate act of self-defence against American aggression and violations of Iranian sovereignty, Al Jazeera reported.

'Bibi, be careful': Trump warns NetanyahuUS President Donald Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel could find itself isolated if it resumed large-scale military action against Iran, according to comments Trump made to Axios following a tense 24-hour period of escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran. "I said, 'Bibi, you better be careful, or you will be on your own very soon,'" Trump told Axios, underscoring his growing concern that renewed fighting could derail efforts to secure a diplomatic agreement with Tehran and drag the United States deeper into a regional conflict. The warning came after Israel struck targets linked to Hezbollah in Beirut late last week, triggering an Iranian missile response against Israel and raising fears of a broader war. |
