Chennai: Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Union Minister Piyush Goyal has said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is committed to removing the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK )government, which is attacking the people of Tamil Nadu, Tamil culture, and pride.
"This incompetent DMK government, which is attacking the people of Tamil Nadu, Tamil culture and Tamil pride, about which we are very hurt. We will work together as one family, and we will defeat the anti-Bharat, anti-India DMK alliance," he said, according to a Deccan Herald report.
"The NDA bloc will provide good leadership and good governance for our sisters and daughters of Tamil Nadu; Good opportunities and a bright future for the youth of Tamil Nadu," he added.
The minister also accused Chief Minister M K Stalin of being 'totally disconnected from the common man', adding that the Stalin administration's primary focus is corruption and the perpetuation of family rule by positioning Udhayanidhi Stalin as the next Chief Minister.
The remarks came after Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran announced that his party has rejoined the NDA, marking a fresh political realignment in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the NDA’s campaign launch meeting near Chennai on January 23.
