New Year’s Eve across the U.S. on December 31, 2025, was a vivid, communal farewell to 2025 and an exuberant welcome to 2026.

New York City — Times Square Ball Drop

At the heart of the country’s New Year’s Eve celebrations was the iconic Times Square Ball Drop in Manhattan. Once again, millions of revelers — both in person and tuned in from around the world — gathered to witness the crystal Waterford ball descend above One Times Square as countdowns, confetti, and cheers marked the transition into 2026. The event featured live musical performances, festive street entertainment, and an atmosphere that has defined New Year’s Eve in America for over a century.

Broadcast networks carried the celebration in primetime, with “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” headlining the lineup. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest from Times Square with special co-hosts in cities like Chicago and Las Vegas, the show combined musical performances with live feeds from parties across the country.

Las Vegas — Strip-Wide Fireworks & Parties

Las Vegas, Nevada, lived up to its reputation as one of the most electrifying places to ring in a new year. On the Las Vegas Strip, cars were banned from key sections as thousands of visitors packed the streets for the coordinated fireworks display at midnight. Fireworks were launched from the rooftops of multiple resorts in a synchronized spectacle set to music, while nightclubs, hotel parties, and live DJ sets kept energy high well into the early hours. Sphere’s exosphere display served as a hub for visual entertainment as New Year’s Eve progressed.

Houston — Diverse Festivities & Fireworks

In Houston, Texas, the night offered something for everyone — from family-friendly “Noon Year’s Eve” countdowns and daytime activities to immersive art experiences and rooftop parties. Popular events included a Great Gatsby-style rooftop celebration at POST Houston, live music and entertainment at Kemah Boardwalk, and immersive events like Meow Wolf’s themed celebration. Fireworks displays around the city punctuated the countdown to midnight, drawing large crowds across various neighborhoods.

Orlando & Florida Attractions

Florida’s theme parks, most notably Walt Disney World in Orlando, hosted a host of New Year’s Eve celebrations. Magic Kingdom and EPCOT offered fireworks shows at set times throughout the night along with DJ dance parties and character parades, while Disney’s Hollywood Studios featured special entertainment and themed countdown festivities. Elsewhere in Florida, Miami’s waterfront hosted midnight fireworks over Biscayne Bay, and cruise parties offered buoyant alternatives with music, dining, and panoramic skyline views.

Los Angeles & Southern California

Southern California rang in the new year with a mix of traditional and creative events. Los Angeles’ NYELA block party in Grand Park drew crowds with live music, food trucks, and a light projection show on City Hall. Stylish parties, rooftop celebrations, and themed gatherings added to the city’s diverse NYE atmosphere, while coastal cities offered oceanfront fireworks and beachside dances.

Other U.S. Highlights & Local Traditions

Beyond these big metropolises, cities like New Orleans celebrated with unique local traditions such as the fleur-de-lis drop in Jackson Square paired with Mississippi River fireworks. Fort Worth, Myrtle Beach (SC) and others hosted block parties, live music, drone shows, and family events. Across the country, smaller communities balanced fireworks, countdowns, and communal gatherings with safety and local flavor in mind.
