India's FTAs on a fastlane

The year 2025 is an active year for India in its engagement in Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). India’s trade strategy has shifted from cautious alignment to calibrated assertion. Seven FTAs in five years signal a country that negotiates on its own terms, expanding access, securing investments, and placing Indian industry firmly inside global supply chains.

This is India stepping forward as a serious economic partner, not waiting for space, but creating it. According to Union Minister Piyush Goyal, India’s FTAs today go well beyond tariff reductions, forming part of a broader mission to strengthen the economy and improve the lives of millions.
