Singer Jaspinder Narula, who received the prestigious Padma Shri for her contribution to the field of art, has dedicated her award to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, the hindustantimes.com reported. “The incident, which happened in Pahalgam recently, disturbed me. I pray to God that the people killed and their families find peace. I dedicate my honor to them,” the 54-year-old said.

She expressed her happiness and shared that receiving such respect feels like a reward for all the hard work and dedication she has put into her music. Jaspinder first entered Bollywood with songs in films like 'Master', 'Aar Ya Paar', and 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan' (1998). However, her song 'Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha' from the 1998 movie of the same name made her a household name. Her performance in this duet with Remo Fernandes earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1999.

Pankaj Udhas honored posthumously

Late singer Pankaj Udhas was honored posthumously with the Padma Bhushan — India’s third-highest civilian award — for his contribution to the field of art. His wife, Farida Udhas, who accepted the honor from President Droupadi Murmu on April 28, said, “I received the award on his behalf. It was a bittersweet feeling. I felt so proud of him, but at the same time, missed him at every moment.”

The singer, who had hits such as 'Chitthi Aai Hai' ('Naam'; 1993) and 'Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai Tera', died on February 26, 2024, at the age of 72. A master of the ghazal genre, he began his rise to fame in the early 1980s with the album Aahat, which quickly became a sensation among music lovers.
