Spanish President Pedro Sanchez met with a delegation from the Producers Guild of India (PGI) during his two-day official visit to India recently, where he emphasized his government’s strong desire to enhance ties with the Indian film industry.
The PGI delegation included notable figures such as Shibasish Sarkar, PGI president and Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment, Aashish Singh from Red Chillies Entertainment, Ankur Garg of Luv Films, Shiv Chanana from T-Series, PGI CEO Nitin Tej Ahuja, and Akshaye Widhani of Yash Raj Films.
The meeting was also attended by Spain’s First Lady Begona Gomez, Minister of Industry and Tourism Jordi Hereu Boher, Minister of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility Oscar Puente, and Dinesh Patnaik, the Indian Ambassador to Spain.
Sanchez noted that the meeting signifies "the beginning of a process of closer collaboration between the two filmmaking communities," according to a press release from the guild. Sarkar highlighted the "scale and multilingual nature" of the Indian film industry and discussed the key factors influencing Indian producers' decisions when selecting international locations for filming.
