The CBFC rejected the objections of Major Mohit Sharma's family, concluding that the spy film is "purely fictional."
After the Delhi High Court's directive, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) re-examined the upcoming spy-thriller 'Dhurandhar' to address concerns raised by the family of the late Ashoka Chakra awardee, Major Mohit Sharma.
This fresh assessment, mandated by the Court's order of December 1, 2025, led the CBFC to reject the family's objections. The Board's latest communication concludes that the movie 'Dhurandhar' has no connection to the life, service, or experiences of Major Sharma.
The Board formally asserted that the movie is a purely fictional work with no factual or biographical link to the officer and granted an ‘Adult Only – A’ certificate. After viewing the Aditya Dhar directorial, the CBFC asked the makers to subtly change a minister’s name in one of the scenes. Besides this, they muted a cuss word and reduced a few violent scenes from the Ranveer Singh-starrer. The makers were also asked to add an anti-drug disclaimer in a few scenes.
'Dhurandhar' stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role alongside Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R Madhavan. It will hit the big screens on December 5, 2025.
