'Homebound', directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Karan Johar, has been shortlisted for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. The film, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, was India's official Oscar entry.

This week, the Academy announced the shortlists for 12 categories. In the Best International Feature Film category, they have shortlisted 15 films. Five of these 15 films will be chosen for the final nominations, which will be announced on January 22.

Sharing the film's poster, producer Karan Johar wrote that he is unable to articulate his feelings and is overjoyed at this achievement. "Homebound has been shortlisted for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards. We’re deeply grateful for the extraordinary love and support we’ve received from around the world (sic)."

“I am not sure I can articulate how proud, elated, and over the moon I am with the journey of #HOMEBOUND all of us @dharmamovies are privileged to have this proud and important film in our filmography,” Karan wrote on Instagram.

The story of Homebound revolves around two childhood friends, Shoaib (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan (Vishal Jethwa), who aspire to become police officers. However, neither the system nor the societal structure makes their journey easy.
