The Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF), widely known as one of the most prestigious festivals for non-feature cinema, is all set to return with its 19th edition in 2026. The edition has officially opened its submissions, inviting filmmakers all over India and across the world to present their work and projects in the given categories of documentary, short fiction and animation movies.

Organized by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), MIFF has long supported independent and alternative cinema, championing filmmakers who break away from traditional storytelling. The festival has launched many emerging talents and given internationally acclaimed creators a chance to connect with Indian audiences.

A senior MIFF official shared, “The Mumbai International Film Festival has always been a platform for filmmakers who see cinema as a powerful medium of expression and dialogue. As we prepare for the 19th edition, we remain committed to discovering new voices and sharing stories that resonate across cultures and borders.”

Beyond screenings, the festival hosts panel discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions where filmmakers, producers, distributors, and scholars come together to exchange ideas.
