New York, NY: The NYC Department for the Aging (NYC Aging) will host its second annual Healthy Aging Fair on Wednesday, September 17. Coinciding with Healthy Aging and Falls Prevention Month, the Fair will take place at the health and sports facility Asphalt Green, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
The City offers many opportunities for older New Yorkers to stay physically and mentally fit. This Healthy Aging Fair brings many of these programs and services to one place, to promote and educate residents about opportunities in their communities.
Participants will have the opportunity to participate in strength, dance, and yoga classes, as well as play games, while exploring 70 tables from various organizations. Offerings include flu shots and screenings such as dental, hearing, cholesterol, and blood pressure. In addition, there will be home safety and falls prevention information, mental health resources, and nutrition information. City agencies will also be present to provide information about the programs they offer across the city to help residents remain healthy. Representatives of the Adams Administration, community-based organizations, and elected officials are also expected to attend.
