New York: The New York Tamil Sangam successfully began its fifty-sixth year with a new executive committee assuming the office. Under the leadership of Dr. Kumarappan Annamalai, Vasanthakumar Venkatasalam took charge as Executive Vice President, Kanimozhi Baskaran as Vice President, Shanmugavel as Secretary, Dr. Pinchi Srinivasan as Treasurer, Prabha Bala as Joint Secretary, and Selva Lakshmi Venkatesan as Joint Treasurer.
On January 31, 2026, our New York Tamil Sangam’s Pongal festival was held. Following a delicious lunch at 12 noon, the Pongal celebrations began with great enthusiasm and grandeur. Families, friends, and community members gathered together and spent a delightful evening filled with culture, music, and joy.
A major highlight of the celebration was the musical performance by popular singer Satyan. His lively songs, engaging conversations, and energetic interaction with the audience filled the hall with happiness. The audience joined in by clapping and dancing along with the songs.
In addition, local artists showcased their talents on stage through music, dance, and singing. Each performance reflected the beauty of tradition and the creativity of our community, leaving a deep impression on the audience.
Just as the musical concert was a feast for the ears, dinner featuring rich traditional flavors was served as a feast for the stomach.
On behalf of the New York Tamil Sangam, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all our Title Sponsors who generously supported this grand celebration including Dr. M. N. Krishnan / Dr. Sasikala Krishnan family; Kanchana Poola / Jagadeesan (Jack) Poola family; and Dr. Bala Swaminathan / Prabha Bala family.
This event was excellently organized by the new New York Tamil Sangam Executive Committee and was successfully conducted with the full support of community office bearers.
