Tianjin (China)/Tokyo: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome from members of the Indian community upon his arrival in China’s Tianjin. He was greeted with traditional cultural performances and enthusiastic chants of 'Vande Mataram' and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, reflecting the community’s excitement.
Sharing the glimpses on his social media platform X, PM Modi said, “China’s Indian community accorded a very special welcome in Tianjin.”
The reception featured traditional Kathak and Odissi dances, accompanied by classical music, highlighting India’s rich cultural legacy. Several diaspora members shared their enthusiasm after meeting the Prime Minister.
An Odissi performer, Zhang Jinghui said, “I felt a little nervous but it is a great honour for me and my crew... He asked me where I learned this. I learned from India and my guruji is Sanchita Bhattacharyaa from Kolkata.”
Zhuang Jing, who performed on the tabla, was quoted as saying that, “It was so exciting. I think we did our best. I think the PM liked our classical music. It was an honour. He is such a nice person, I had never expected.”

Earlier in Japan, the Indian diaspora praised the PM during his visit to the country, saying he has done a lot of development in the last 10 years and brought pride to Indians living abroad.
Sadashiv Shetty, originally from Mangalore and residing in Japan for over 20 years, was quoted as saying in reports that, “Earlier, people here didn’t even know who the Prime Minister of India was.
“But in the last 10 years, we feel proud to be Indian. It’s all because of PM Modi. He has done exceptionally well in almost every field. I felt very proud that he came to Japan. It’s not right to speak ill of PM Modi as he has done a lot of development in the country,” he added.
