Manish Varma joins Wharton as Executive in Residence

Philadelphia: The Wharton AI & Analytics Initiative (WAIAI) has proudly welcomed Manish Varma as its newest Executive in Residence — a role reserved for industry leaders who bridge academia and global business with vision and impact. 

Varma is a globally recognized technology executive who has successfully delivered transformative AI and digital strategies at scale across the life sciences sector. His work has consistently unlocked AI-driven innovation while creating sustained organizational value. 

With an MBA from The Wharton School and BTech from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Manish combines world-class education with a passion for Technology bridging academic research and industry. His mission is to accelerate the next generation of AI innovation — something that resonates deeply with India’s push to become a leader in the global AI economy. 

As Executive in Residence, Manish joins an elite cohort of leaders who collaborate with Wharton faculty on AI thought leadership; mentor students, sharing lessons from his decades of global experience; speak at flagship events to inspire future innovators; and judge pivotal AI competitions shaping the future of business. 

This role gives him a platform to influence not just future corporate leaders but also the global direction of AI adoption in business. 

What makes this story even more inspiring is Varma’s proud roots and extremely humble background from Bihar. His journey from Patna to IIT Kanpur, Wharton, and now global boardrooms — is a shining example for young professionals in the diaspora.
