The corridor will link Kabul with Delhi and Amritsar, enhancing bilateral trade and connectivity.
India and Afghanistan will begin an Air Freight Corridor connecting Kabul with Delhi and Amritsar, the two countries announced during Afghan Commerce Minister Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi’s week-long visit to New Delhi. The step is being positioned as a crucial boost for bilateral trade, connectivity, and the movement of essential goods.
Azizi, who arrived in India with a trade delegation from 19–25 November, met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to discuss bilateral ties, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.
He later held delegation-level talks with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, where both sides agreed to open the Kabul–Delhi and Kabul–Amritsar air routes for freight movement. The two Ministers also welcomed the revival of the Joint Working Group on Trade, Commerce and Investment after a prolonged gap.
India and Afghanistan will now post Commercial Representatives in their respective embassies and set up a Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry to streamline trade-related coordination.
