New York: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his teenage daughter observed tests of strategic cruise missiles fired from a warship, AP news agency reported.
According to images shared by the Korean Central News Agency, the two were in a conference room looking at a screen showing weapons being fired from the Choe Hyon, a year-old naval destroyer. Kim underscored the need to maintain “a powerful and reliable nuclear war deterrent," KCNA reported in a dispatch.
This came as North Korea became the latest country to congratulate Mojtaba Khamenei on his appointment as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, following the death of his father in US-Israeli strikes on February 28.
In a statement reported by state news agency KCNA, North Korea’s foreign ministry said it supported the Iranian people’s choice of Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new leader.
