India continues to hit back at Pakistan after repelling Pakistani drone strikes at 26 locations in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, as Islamabad ratcheted up hostilities for the second straight day, raising fears of a full-blown conflict. Here are the major updates...
-- Multiple explosions were heard in several Indian cities, including Jammu, Srinagar and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir, early on Saturday, media reports said.
-- Pakistan, early on May 10, claimed that its three airbases were targeted by Indian missiles and drones. The country's military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry told a hurriedly called press conference that Nur Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal), and Rafiqui (Shorkot in Jhang district) airbases of the Pakistan Air Force were targeted. “But all assets of the Air Force remain safe,” he claimed.
-- Following reports of explosions in Rawalpindi and multiple locations across Lahore, Pakistan has closed its airspace to all flights between 3:15 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. local time on May 10, 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority announced Saturday.
-- Three civilians were injured in an armed drone strike in Punjab’s Ferozepur town. Drones sighted across a wide arc of locations – ranging from Baramulla and Srinagar in the north to Bhuj in the west – along both the international border and the Line of Control, the Indian Army said.
-- The Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced temporary suspension of all civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India. The closure will remain in effect from May 9 to May 14, 2025.
The affected airports include: Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai.
-- The G7 foreign ministers said in a statement that they strongly condemn the "egregious terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and urge maximum restraint from both India and Pakistan". "Further military escalation poses a serious threat to regional stability. We are deeply concerned for the safety of civilians on both sides," it added.
