The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility is published annually by the Lown Institute, a nonpartisan healthcare think tank. Lown evaluates 53 metrics of Health Equity, Value of Care, and Patient Outcomes using publicly available data and the result is a comprehensive Social Responsibility grade for over 3,600 hospitals and more than 300 health systems nationwide. The Lown Institute Hospital Index is the nation’s only independent ranking system that measures hospitals not only on clinical outcomes, but also on their commitment to equity, value, and community impact.

“These rankings reflect our mission-driven commitment to provide exceptional care for every New Yorker, regardless of their ability to pay, language spoken, or neighborhood,” said Dr. Mitchell Katz, CEO and President, NYC Health + Hospitals. “We are proud to be recognized for advancing health equity, investing in our communities, and ensuring that all patients have access to high-quality care.”
