New York: India in New York hosted the 77th Republic Day Reception, graciously attended by Governor of Delaware Matt Meyer, Congressman Nick LaLota, Congressman Mike Lawler, Congresswoman Laura Gillen, Assemblywoman, New York State Assembly Jennifer Rajkumar and Mayor of Edison, New Jersey Sam Joshi along with other elected representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, community leaders, business leaders, cultural figures, and friends of India.
Distinguished guests from government, business, academia, culture, media, the Indian diaspora, and friends of India from diverse walks of life joined the celebration, reflecting the depth, warmth, and enduring strength of the India–U.S. partnership.
Governor of Delaware Matt Meyer highlighted the Indian-American community’s vital contributions and announced that his first overseas visit as Governor will be to India in March 2026, underscoring strong interest in deepening business ties and people-to-people engagement between Delaware and India.
Congressman Nick LaLota highlighted the growing role of the Indian-American community, praised its values of family, faith, and entrepreneurship, and congratulated India on its 77th Republic Day.
Congressman Mike Lawler underscored the centrality of the India–U.S. partnership for global peace and prosperity, recalled welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address a Joint Session of the U.S. Congress, and reaffirmed strong support for the Indian-American community and deeper bilateral ties.
