New York: Aromananda Foundation USA Inc., in partnership with the Consulate General of India, New York, celebrated its 4th International Day of Yoga at the iconic Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on the first summer solstice, the event embraced this year’s global theme: “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

Aromananda, a formally registered NGO in New York State, continues its mission of bringing yoga awareness to diverse communities. This year, around 30 yoga enthusiasts—young, elderly, and beginners—participated actively, with several joining through accessible chair yoga. Yoga gurus Savitha and Nanda guided participants through each practice, ensuring everyone understood the benefits and philosophy of yoga.

The morning featured a rich blend of wellness practices, including Pranayama, Traditional Yoga on the Mat, Chair Yoga, Laughter Yoga, and Meditation. The event unfolded flawlessly under cooperative weather, with participants enjoying crisp, fresh air that enhanced the pranayama experience. The gathering was further elevated by delightful mantra chanting from Swamiji of Ananda Marga, Flushing, NY, adding a serene spiritual dimension.

A special moment of recognition came from New York State Assemblywoman Jennifer Rajkumar, the first Hindu woman elected to the New York State Assembly. She issued a Proclamation of Wellness honoring Rashmin Master, CPA, and Badari Ambatti, a dedicated program director and volunteer of Aromananda, for their contributions to community wellness.

The event concluded with food distribution by Joy Food Inc., NY, creating a warm sense of community. Celebrated on the first day of summer—and Father’s Day—the gathering was truly a blissful and meaningful start to the season.
