American Punjabi Society Annual Gala celebrates culture and service

Hicksville, NY: The American Punjabi Society (APS) hosted its grand Annual Gala at the Pearl Banquet Hall, bringing together dignitaries, business leaders, artists, and community members for an evening dedicated to celebrating Punjabi heritage, service, and unity. 

The program opened with a warm welcome by APS Vice President Ajay Vir S. Sondhi, followed by General Secretary VPS Sikka, who introduced APS President Gary S. Sikka, praising his dedication and commitment to seva. In his address, President Sikka reaffirming APS’s mission of dignity, cultural preservation, humanitarian service, and unity. He emphasized that APS’s achievements are driven by the collective strength of the community. 

Padma Bhushan Sant Singh Chatwal delivered an inspiring keynote, highlighting the importance of cultural organizations in strengthening community identity. Commending APS’s work in seva, youth empowerment, and humanitarian service, he lauded President Sikka’s inclusive and values-driven leadership and urged the community to pass Punjabi values of compassion, courage, and service to future generations. 

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of APS’s highest honor, the Punjabi Ratan Award, to Harry Singh Bolla, APS Patron and esteemed community leader. Accepting the award, Mr. Bolla credited Waheguru and the community for his journey and dedicated the honor to hardworking Punjabis who keep the spirit of seva alive. 

The Gala also featured a standing-ovation welcome for international Punjabi film star Neeru Bajwa, who shared reflections on culture and storytelling, and a vibrant live performance by Punjabi music star Ms. Pooja. 

APS showcased its 2024–2025 initiatives, including blood donation drives, cancer awareness walks, youth mentorship programs, women-led initiatives, and major cultural celebrations. The event concluded with acknowledgements of APS leadership, volunteers, and partners—reinforcing APS’s enduring commitment to a community rooted in seva, united by culture, and inspired by shared purpose.
