New York: Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., who recently embarked on his campaign for the US Senate to fill the seat being vacated by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., announced May 21, 2025, the formation of “Mayors for Raja,” a coalition of current and former Illinois mayors committed to electing him.

The coalition includes nearly two dozen mayors from across Illinois, stretching from Chicago’s northern suburbs to downstate — all supporting Raja because of his proven ability to represent all of Illinois and deliver crucial resources for families everywhere.

“I am honored to have the support of this long and growing list of mayors from across Illinois who spend every single day fighting for their residents,” Krishnamoorthi said in the press release sent from his rajaforil.com campaign.

“Local leaders know their communities better than anyone, and I have been proud to fight on behalf of these mayors and their communities throughout my time in Congress. I look forward to continuing that essential partnership to deliver for all of Illinois as our next Senator.”

Numerous Mayors including two Indian Americans, and a couple of former Mayors, made statements of support for Krishnamoorthi, lauding his experience and his agenda while in Congress over the years, that kept priorities of various cities front and center.
