New York: Sujit Singh, an Indian American technology professional and longtime community advocate, has announced his bid for the Democratic nomination in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District, campaigning on a platform centered on human services, inclusion, and grassroots engagement.

Singh said his decision to run stems from years of work in nonprofit human services and a belief that these issues remain underrepresented across New Jersey. The four-county district, he noted, is highly diverse but underserved in key policy areas, particularly those affecting low-income families, immigrants, seniors, and young people.

Born and raised in Jhajjar, Haryana, Singh grew up in a farming family and spent much of his early life balancing school with agricultural work. After earning an engineering degree, he immigrated to the United States in 1998 with limited financial resources. He credits early employer support for helping him establish a career and build a life in New Jersey, where he later raised his family in West Windsor.

Singh brings more than three decades of experience in technology consulting and public-sector programs focused on delivering benefits to families and children. He previously ran for mayor of West Windsor, losing by just 164 votes in what he described as a strong grassroots campaign.

Emphasizing the district’s significant Indian American, Asian, Hispanic, and Black populations, Singh said his campaign will focus on community-driven politics and inclusive representation rooted in lived immigrant experience.
