New York, NY: On May 28, 2026, the Battery Park City Authority hosted Red Baraat for a free public performance at Wagner Park in Battery Park City, drawing a crowd of New York City residents and visitors for an electrifying show. Led by dhol master Sunny Jain, the Brooklyn-based band delivered their signature blend of global dance music, fusing Punjabi rhythms with hip-hop, funk, jazz, and rock.

"Music is one of the most powerful tools we have to bring our community together and spread joy throughout the city," said Craig Hudon, Vice President of Parks Programming and Community Operations, BPCA. "We were delighted to host Red Baraat for what was such a lively performance, from the band’s lively music to the crowd’s high energy, the performance was truly special. We look forward to bringing more exciting summer events to Wagner Park."

The group transformed a Thursday evening downtown into a high-energy night full of music, dance, and community. Guests enjoyed food, drinks, and a stunning view of New York Harbor – the perfect backdrop for a summer night under the stars.

The Red Baraat performance is part of an ongoing series of free public programming at Battery Park City's parks and open spaces. Battery Park City Authority’s 2026 Seasonal Program & Event Guide details the broad range of free programming available– including music, art, nature, walking tours, fitness, and more – from May through October.
