As America celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence, I reflect on my American journey shaped by the freedoms, opportunities, and values that define this great nation.

My story began in 1980 when I arrived in the United States on a transfer from Taj Hotels, part of the Tata Group in Mumbai, India. Like many immigrants, I came with ambition, determination, and a strong work ethic. America provided an environment where hard work was rewarded and opportunities were available to those willing to pursue them.

Over the next three decades, I held senior leadership positions with Taj Hotels, including Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President of Finance, Head of Mergers & Acquisitions, and Executive Member of the Board of Directors. These roles allowed me to contribute to the growth of a respected global organization while building a fulfilling professional career.

After more than 30 years with the Tata Group, I launched my own advisory and consulting practice specializing in mergers and acquisitions and hotel management. America’s entrepreneurial spirit provided the opportunity and confidence to pursue this new chapter.

Equally important has been my commitment to community service. I served as President of the India Association of Long Island (IALI), where, as Chairman of the India Center Committee, I helped secure a permanent home for the organization. In 2012, I played  a key role in organizing the first India Day Parade in Hicksville, Long Island, helping establish what has become an annual celebration of Indian heritage and culture.

My service continued through the Association of Indians in America (AIA), where I served as President of the New York Chapter and later as National President. Working with dedicated volunteers, I helped strengthen and modernize one of the oldest Indian American organizations in the country.

Charitable service has always been a passion of mine. As President of IALI, our team raised over $30,000 through the Diwali Food Drive for the Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen. During my presidency of AIA-NY, Project India raised more than $40,000 for women’s empowerment initiatives in India. As AIA National President, I led the donation of $35,000 to help India Home launch its first senior center on Long Island.

Today, I am proud to be a Founding Trustee of the National Alliance of Indian Organizations (NAIO), which seeks to unite Indian American organizations and strengthen U.S.-India relations.

For me, the American Dream is not measured solely by professional success. It is reflected in service, community building, cultural preservation, and creating opportunities for others. As America marks its 250th anniversary, I remain deeply grateful for the opportunities it has provided me and my family and honored to be part of its continuing story.
